Hello all. The steering loss only happened for a couple of seconds (twice in about an hour-never happened before). It seemed to be when i had the right hand down on both occasions, it sort of when completely stiff, i pulled over with a racey heart, but it was then fine when pulled away. That was yesterday, hasn't happened today. It wasn't raining, so it wasn't the belt getting wet and slipping, and the fluid is at the right level. Anyone experienced this before? Is it just the power pump on the way out? Thanks.

Check condition of the power steering belt and make sure it isn't slipping. You can also check the alternator pulley - this can sometimes give an unusual effect like this when it starts to lock up the wrong way. Have a look in the FAQ's
